What happens during each workshop?

Orchestra Reading & Rehearsal | 9AM - 10:30AM

In our orchestra sessions, we will read and rehearse standard orchestral repertoire selected based on instrumentation and level of difficulty. Preparation is encouraged to maximize the ensemble experience for all members. Parts will become available 3 weeks prior to workshop dates.

Conducting lab | 10:45AM - 12PM

Conducting labs will follow orchestra rehearsal where teachers (up to 4 per workshop/15  min podium time) will receive coaching on score excerpts selected from their concert programs. Shorter excerpts are recommended with specific areas of feedback desired. Lab ensembles have the option to play their secondary instruments if the level of music is suitable.  Conducting lab participation is on a first come first serve basis (open until filled), and score excerpts to be uploaded one week prior to workshop.

Conducting lessons | By Appointment

One-on-one conducting lessons offer personalized coaching and learning, and can include but not limited to, preparatory sessions for conducting lab or post sessions to follow up on areas covered. Conducting lessons can be requested and scheduled on our outside of workshop dates.
